Bocce Australia team to shine at UCAN2 official launch event

Bocce Australia is proud to announce its participation in the upcoming UCAN2 Official Launch Event this May in Melbourne. The event promises to be a vibrant celebration of inclusion, sport, and community—and Bocce Australia is thrilled to be part of the action.

A talented group of athletes from across the country will represent the national squad during the weekend’s activities. The lineup includes Chiara Tomasi (QLD), Michael Pevere (ACT), Nicole Samsa (NSW), Melissa Danelutti (NSW), Nina Chiandotto (NSW), Lara O’Callaghan (NSW), Aaron O’Callaghan (NSW), and Kayla Dukes (VIC). Each athlete brings their own unique strengths and energy to the team, and together, they’ll showcase the excitement and skill of bocce to new audiences.

Accompanying the athletes are three of Australia’s dedicated bocce coaches: Stefano Chiandotto, Linda Chiandotto, and Corentin Julien. Their leadership and support will be vital across the showcase, training clinic, and community engagement throughout the weekend.

In addition to taking part in the UCAN2 launch event, the team will make a special visit to the Macron Flagship Store, one of Bocce Australia’s valued sponsors. There, they will design and select new uniforms that reflect the team’s identity and pride. The weekend will also include a sports mindset development workshop, helping athletes grow both mentally and physically in their sporting journey and in preparation for their participation in the up-coming 2025 International and World Championships.

Sunday will be action-packed, with a dedicated training clinic and the exciting opportunity for the team to be part of the filming of a new commercial that will promote the sport across the country.

The UCAN2 – Uniting Communities and Networks program – has been a true success story. It’s proof that a dream, backed by the right support, can become a powerful reality. Thanks to the generous funding provided by the State of Victoria through the Change Our Game grant. What began as an ambitious idea has become a vibrant, inclusive movement that continues to change lives.

Through this success Bocce Federation of Victoria has been able to expand and create the UCAN2 – Empowering Women and Girls in Bocce. With the further generous support of the Australian Federal Government Grant, Play Our Way, we are launching this program and we would like the opportunity to celebrate this launch with you.

Bocce Australia is excited to bring the spirit of the game to Melbourne and continue inspiring the next generation of bocce players through this incredible opportunity and support Bocce Victoria’s fantastic new Initiative UCAN2 for women and girls in sport.
