Get ready for a whirlwind of excitement as we embark on a journey filled with thrilling competitions and international camaraderie! The coming months are brimming with events that promise to showcase the best of bocce athleticism and sportsmanship.

February: International showcase – Australia vs France events

Kicking off our exciting lineup in February as part of the international coaching tour down under, we have an Australia vs France three-part series in Queensland, New South Wales, and Victoria. Get ready for an exhilarating display of skill and passion as teams compete head-to-head, live, from each state. Live streaming will be direct from the venue, so stay tuned for updates and highlights via our socials!

March: Asia Oceania Boules Sport Championship – Melbourne

From March 1 – 3, Melbourne will host the Asia Oceania Boules Sport Championship where we will witness top-notch competition and celebrate the spirit of international sportsmanship right here in Australia. Hosted by one of our premier clubs, Casa D’Abruzzo in Epping, this showdown is not to be missed. This Championship gives Australia the opportunity to qualify for the upcoming senior men’s and mixed world championships in May.

March: Australian Bocce-Raffa Open – Morwell

Mark your calendars for the Australian Bocce-Raffa Open in Morwell on March 23 – 24. This promises to be a spectacular event, bringing together top players for a thrilling showcase of Bocce excellence. As usual, the Italian Australian Club will host a grand event offering their warm hospitality and world class courts.

April: Australian Junior Open – Melbourne

The excitement continues in April with the Australian Junior Open in Melbourne on April 27 and 28. Watch the rising stars of Bocce showcase their talent and determination in this youth-focused competition for a place on the Australian Squad team to qualify the World Junior Championships at Puerto Rico in December.

May: World Championships in France & Asia Oceania Bocce Raffa in Hong Kong

May is a month of global significance, featuring the Senior Men’s and Mixed World Championships in St Vulbus, France. Witness the best of the best competing on the world stage. Additionally, the Asia Oceania Bocce Raffa in Hong Kong promises intense competition and international collaboration.

June: Nationals in Perth

The grand finale of this exciting stretch of events from January to June, takes place in Perth from June 6 – 11 with the Nationals. Join us for a week of intense competition, community spirit, and the crowning of national champions. This year Western Australia hosts a multi-stream of events with the Nationals, Special Olympics, and Club Championships.

As the year continues, Bocce Australia will announce the second half of the year (July to December). We are currently waiting for confirmation for certain national and international events. Bocce Australia, with the collaboration of the Federation of French Sport-Boules, is excited to present this prestigious tour to promote our sport, training, collaboration, and camaraderie, with the number one coach in the world, and world champion players.

Meet the French team

Coach – Jean-Yves Peronnet

Director Jean-Yves has had a world of experience. Starting his official Bocce career in 1994 as the Departmental Sports Advisor of the Loire in Sport-Boules, he has improved his own techniques and created a well achieved status as the Director of National development to the French Bocce Federation. Jean-Yves was the National Development Director from 2009 until 2021 where he took some well-deserved time away, focussing on training the national teams and players. Jean-Yves joined back as the Director in September 2023, with Australia in the front of his mind. Australia can’t wait to have a world-renowned coach and trainer come to support and elevate the skills of our Australian team.

Player – Pauline Gouilloud

Pauline is not one to miss. Pauline has been playing Bocce for many years and has shown her best performances in Precision shooting and progressive throw. Pauline currently holds the title of the European Precision Throw Champion, and world record for female under 18’s precision throw. Pauline has achieved silver medallist at the World Vice-Champion Precision Throw in Alassio, Italy October 2021, and made the quarter finals in double and precision shooting the world championships in Rumilly, France in November 2023. Pauline cannot go to a competition and be unseen. She continues to grow better and improve everywhere she goes.

Player – Frederic Marsens

Frederic has a very distinguished record and resume. Having set new world records in Fast Throw and Progressive throw, he has shown his presence in World Bocce. Frederic has been playing Bocce in his local club and shown his skills in Club Championships, European Championships, and the World Championships. Frederic has won many accolades and proven the best in the world in Progressive Throw and Fast Throw, breaking the world record in each discipline. Frederic sets to exceed expectations wherever he is playing and has shown great competition in his games.
